Home, Once More

For Chris-Tina and Chris-Ee, that circle began on the very first day of their lives, when they arrived at Edgar’s Mission alongside their devoted mumma, Noelle, and six siblings after being discovered in a makeshift manger on an abandoned property.

It was here they first discovered soft, golden straw, full bellies and a life that asked nothing of them, offering only kindness.

And now, they have found sanctuary once more.

One of the hardest realities of sanctuary life is that, despite everyone’s very best intentions, circumstances sometimes change. Through no fault of their own, animals who have been lovingly rehomed occasionally need somewhere to turn.

Sustainable sanctuary means celebrating every successful rehoming, because every space made available allows another animal in desperate need to be saved. But it also means standing ready should life take an unexpected turn.

For Chris-Tina and Chris-Ee, that promise has brought them home.

These two delightful pigs remain every bit as charming as they were when they first oinked their way into our lives. Belly rubs rank only slightly above snacks, although snacks followed immediately by belly rubs may well be their perfect recipe for happiness. They adore people, a beautiful testament to dear Noelle, whose calm, loving nature helped shape each of her precious babies.

And should the right family come along, we would love to see Chris-Tina and Chris-Ee begin another chapter together. Because welcoming a rescued animal into your family is never about providing a home for a season. It is about making room in your heart and barn for a lifetime.

Until then, these two much-loved pigs already know something many animals never do: that no matter where life’s road may lead, there will always be a place where they are welcomed home.
