A message of hope

Updated September 3, 2024

Range and Rover, sweet little Dorper twin lambs, came to sanctuary at just four days old, their tiny bodies still coming to terms with the uncertainty of a world since the passing of their beloved mumma.

Despite their small size—typical of the Dorper breed—their impact on the sanctuary was immense. It was as if their gentle presence brought a quiet strength and a reminder of the fragile beauty of life.

Range, the spirited little girl, had a twinkle in her eye that hinted at adventures yet to come, always nudging her more cautious brother, Rover. Together, they formed a perfect pair—two halves of a whole, finding solace and comfort in each other amidst the unfamiliar sights and sounds of their new home.

But the sanctuary’s joy was short-lived for Range, and those adventures now will be had on another plane, as only days after their arrival, she passed away suddenly. At first this left dear Rover alone in a world that seemed too vast and empty without her. However, that grief was quickly replaced by the companionship of Porsche, Jimny, Mazda and Citroen.

Range’s short life was a poignant reminder that it is not the length of time we have, but the love and light we bring into the world that truly matters. Rover seemed to understand this, as he took on a newfound strength and resilience.

Even in the face of profound grief, we can find a way to carry forward the love we have lost…

The story of Range and Rover is one of love and loss, but also one of enduring hope. It teaches us that even in the face of profound grief, we can find a way to carry forward the love we have lost. By honouring Range’s memory, we find new ways to grow, exploring the world as she encouraged her brother to do. And in doing so, we can discover that love, once given, never truly fades—it simply changes form, becoming a beacon of hope that lights our way through our darkest chapters.
