A far cry from the very health-compromised little 2-day old lamb who stole our hearts almost 2 months ago, Maserati has blossomed into a wrinkly-nosed Merino with a twinkle in his eye and two determined little horns.

This sprightly lad is now the driver of his own life and will not become a backseat passenger to human will.

Although his fleece will bear the finest of wool fibres, it is his endearing personality that truly defines him. Maserati’s journey from frailty to strength is a testament to the power of compassion and care.

With a sign reading, “Free to good home” this soon became a prophecy, as Alex Layhey and Gretta Lay were sanctuary bound.

As soft and calm as the gentle breeze she takes her name from is our Zephyr. It quickly became clear that all was not well with the late-night arrival of this raspy-chested newborn lamb.

She was not found on a catwalk, but a lonely stretch of country road several hours from here. In another lifetime, perhaps she would have been a super model.
