A name with a prophecy…
With a cheeky tweak to Oscar Wilde’s bold statement “Life imitates art…,” we say that the name of our sweet little lamb, Lexus, is a “prophecy that imitates her future.”
A future that will transform her tragically sad and forgotten start into one that embodies the meaning of the name Lexus – luxury and elegance.
Desperately trying to suckle from her dead mumma, Lexus’s plight tugged at her savior’s heartstrings. Informed by the farmer, “You can have her,” the hungry and cold lamb was soon sanctuary-bound.
This year, with winter lambing season far from over, we have taken in an unprecedented number of orphaned lambs. They range from those freshly pulled from their dying mummas to those who have wandered for days in search of food and maternal touch, or those injured and infirm from predators or health conditions.
While the circumstances of their arrival vary greatly, the reason they arrive does not – a human has seen the vulnerable and precious baby lamb in trouble and realised that what they choose to do next will determine whether that animal lives or dies.
Such an act of kindness is one that will shape their future.
