King Arthur: A brighter, kinder tomorrow

Updated February 6, 2025

In the quiet folds of a rural town, where fruit trees blossomed and hills rolled flat, a legend was born. King Arthur would be his name. While some saw him as imperfect, with his malformed ear and misaligned jaw, these distinct “imperfections” have marked him singularly perfect.

Both in heart and in form.

King Arthur is a wee soul, shiny and bright. A young kid goat of around 6 months of age. His snow-white body crowned with a face brushed in the hues of brown and black lends him a regal air, while his generous spirit sees him as a people favourite.

The absence of a left ear canal has serendipitously gifted him a jaunty head tilt, something that has led to his swaggering gait. But these are not burdens to him, only echoes of his resilience that states, “I will not merely survive, I will thrive”.

Found wandering the countryside for reasons shrouded in mystery, King Arthur was taken to the local pound. A place where lives sit at the crossroads of fate.

But destiny shone on him the day the Lady in the Hat just happened by. While not with a chariot to ferry him to sanctuary, but a steadfast car with a pet carrier just large enough to accommodate young Arthur, he was to find his Camelot.

Arriving at his new home, Arthur jumped with joy and gave a little bleat when he met a kindred spirit: Richard the Lionheart. A fellow kid goat with a heart as courageous as his namesake. Though their beginnings were worlds apart, they were united by a singular act of human compassion. Their bond forged in the warm light of second chances and the goodness of the human heart.

Diving headfirst into a bowl of sweet-tasting hay, their non-judgemental ways remind us of our crusade—not one of conquest, but of kindness. A mission simple yet profound: to create a world where every being can have a seat at our round table if they so wish. Whether clad in armour or cloaked in fur, feathers, fins or fleece, each shall be graced with dignity and love.

May King Arthur’s tale, with his boundless curiosity and friendly spirit, shine as a beacon of hope in these dark times. May it serve as a reminder that true greatness is found not in grandiose gestures or heavy swords, but in quiet acts of compassion that sow the seeds of a brighter, kinder tomorrow.
