Life Lessons From a Little Lamb Named Hazel 🌸🐑

Updated July 21, 2025

The weather was bitter the day Hazel was born—but thankfully the kindness was not.

Found alone where no newborn lamb should be—still covered in amniotic fluid and trembling—Hazel was rushed to sanctuary. She was cold, yet vocal, desperately seeking that mumma she would never see again. Though this made our hearts race, our actions—as always—were measured.

With love already in motion, ours followed swiftly—armed with warm colostrum, a star-emblazoned pink jacket and tender care. And in this sanctuary of hope, little Hazel has flourished.

With her soft Dorper coat and plush-toy charm, Hazel endears herself to everyone she meets—human and non-human alike. Her bestest buddy is dear Aspen, though Hazel sees everyone through a kind lens. She merrily skips around her buddy and through her days, taking life’s ups and downs in stride—sleeping them off and waking, excited to begin again.

Just as the sun doesn’t choose where to shine, Hazel’s warmth and generous spirit touch everyone

Though her start was far from perfect, sweet Hazel reminds us: we don’t need to fit in to forge our own path in this wide and often complex world. By simply living true to ourselves, we leave behind something beautifully unique—in every space we enter and every heart we meet.

Just as the sun doesn’t choose where to shine, Hazel’s warmth and generous spirit touch everyone she encounters.

The world—and we—are better for her being her.

Especially when she’s wearing her star-emblazoned pink jacket!

If only we could all be more like Hazel.
