The Tale of the Calder Goats
Two goats on the edge of the Calder Highway, reading the rhythm of the road better than we ever could and always one step ahead.
We tried. They ran. We tried again. They ran again. Until one day they disappeared. And in their absence, there was only hope.
Months later, they reappeared. Not far from where they were last seen, as though the world had quietly shifted them somewhere safer. And there, they found her. Lady.
And something like belonging. They were still wary and watchful. But slowly, with time and patience and Bec’s gentle kindness, they began to stay. Not because they had to. But because they chose to.
Once safely darted by our friends at Vets For Compassion they came to us for care and castration. And soon, they will return.
Back to the place they found and to the life they chose. Because sometimes home is not where you begin.
It is where you are held.
