Acknowledge

There, at a truck stop, huddled in the nothingness, was a trembling, pink-nosed figure—barely more than a breath. Kindness, doing what kindness does best, then saw the fragile creature bundled into a blanket and two strong, burly arms. Knowing not to act would’ve meant certain death for the baby goat we’ve now named Ten-Four.

Though Ten-Four barely made a sound when found, his vulnerability spoke louder than words ever could. Then, moment by moment, life returned to him. Loud bleats he made, and gregarious leaps he did.

And what a little dynamo Ten-Four has cheekily and cheerily proven to be.

With tiny “toofies” just erupting, we guessed he was no more than four days old on arrival—brand new to the world, and already an intrepid navigator.

The road less travelled.

No one knows how he ended up roadside, alone. But whatever the backstory, that day—it could’ve been his last—became his first, when human kindness became his compass.

From the moment Ten-Four touched down at sanctuary, he’s been on a mission. To squeeze through the tiniest of places—and too, the bigger ones in our hearts. In doing so, he brings unbridled joy to the world and infectious laughter to us all.

Life, to him, is just one big ball of wonder—waiting for him to click-clack his little hooves across it.
Through it. Around it. And sometimes … completely demolish it.

Karl Barth said, “Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.” And perhaps that’s the secret to Ten-Four’s gregarious spirit—grateful just to be here.

Right here.
Right now.

For though he was born into a world that almost forgot him, kindness did not.

A simple life lesson, played out by a teeny goat, a truck stop and a truckie who acknowledged the call of his heart.

A profound message, loud and clear: Kindness is never out of range.

And to this, little Ten-Four would say—“Roger that. Over and out.”
